The Ugly Duckling was a Chinese restaurant slightly north of the city centre, previously known as Tai Cheun. It has now closed.
As of September 2010 the premises are occupied by another Chinese restaurant photo called Hong Kong Fusion or HK Fusion (or 港式小廚 in Chinese), which is either the second branch or the new home of HK Fusion on Burleigh Street.
The information below is retained for people who want to know what it used to be like as the Ugly Duckling.

Big Buddha Thai restaurant is upstairs, and I think run by the same people.
An anonymous commenter (January 2010) describes it as "mediocre", "overpriced", and "essentially a tourist trap". Our anonymous friend also claims that "the decor is awful, the service is painfully slow and the waiters don't know anything of the menu", and complains that the 10% service charge isn't optional. However, Anonymous does also provide us with the useful factual information that dinner for two without wine would be around £50.
