The Carlton Arms is a great social pub in the north of the city. The staff are always friendly, the food is excellent and there is always a wide variety of guest Real Ales on offer — no Stella :).  The Cambridge & District CAMRA May/June 2007 newsletter [http://www.cambridge-camra.org.uk/ale/328/belgian-beers.html says] it's good for Belgian beer. As of October 2012 there are five or six real ciders and perries on sale (in addition to the usual bottle and keg varieties).

The pub comprises two separate bars. The lounge bar is comfortable with sofas and tables for eating or socialising. The main bar is laid out in a more traditional pub manner with fruit machines, a pool table etc.

Food is served until 9pm Weds/Sat/Sun; until 10pm Thurs/Fri. Quiz night is Wednesday.

As of the end of July 2011 the pub has <b>reopened</b> after a fire in December 2010.  An upstairs fire in the flat above the Carlton resulted in the pub being closed while repairs were done.  Nobody was injured, but the pub suffered smoke and water damage.  The pub reopened in July 2011.
