The Junction is a music venue based at the Cambridge Leisure Park, although it pre-dates it. Second in size on to the Corn Exchange it hosts gigs from up and coming bands. In addition the venue also puts on comedy, theatre and dance events, and is used as a club venue for popular nights such as Dot Cotton and Boomslang at the weekend. The main venue (known as "Junction 1: The Stripe") has a capacity of around 850 for gigs, in a room which is unusually wide, allowing you to get closer to the stage than in many venues, at the expense of slight bad sound. Redevelopment in 2004 added a second performance space ("Junction 2: The Shed") which has a capacity of 220 and is more theatre-like, with seating on several levels around 3 walls. The redevelopment also includes a bar/coffee shop with comfortable seating and a new reception area, and free WiFi.
