Has a piano in the bar window, and a live pianist every other weekday and Sundays; you feel a little sorry for him, since he's clearly playing with the primary requirement being background music. Serves a three-course set menu for £15.95 Monday to Friday, a-la-carte on weekends. Reasonable vegetarian options - two starters and two main dishes. I dined there 11 November with a friend; we shared the whole baked camembert as a starter, which comes with not quite enough dipping opportunities and is perhaps slightly over-bitter but perfectly pleasant. Braised pork with an elaborate mash for me, mushroom fricassee for my friend, both very tasty. They officially don't have house wines, but offer a nice £14 Chardonnay if you ask for house white. £28 a head with wine but without dessert. <div class="last_verified">Last visited by Tom, 11 November 2007.</div> </div> |
