Oct 11: A more extensive mentioning of the beer garden should be made. There are two sections; one across the road, filled with about five large pub-garden beer tables in the shade of the trees, and leads right down onto the river. In the summer, you can often find a horse or two parked at the side, and geese and swans wandering around the tables and your feet. As beer gardens go, this is probably one of the best in the country. The second section is around the side of the pub itself and to the back, with a high wall and is also very pleasant. This is a good place to retreat when the wind's blowing onto East Anglia from Siberia. |
