Greene King house on the corner of Gwydir Street and Milford Street.

Note: as of September 2012, cam.misc reports that the pub is currently closed, but will be re-opening on 30th November 2012 with the landlord from the [[Free Press]] taking over. See [

The information below predates this change of management, so some details may be out of date when it reopens.

Not exactly
a pub, and not exactly a bar, the Alex lies somewhere in between. Although it does advertise three real ales — Greene King IPA, Ruddles Orchard, and Old Speckled Hen — on the afternoon of [[Kake]]'s August 2007 visit, all three of the other customers were drinking wine. I didn't sample the beer as it was a bit early for me; I had a J2O, which cost £2.

The decor is pleasant and clean, with lots of wood in evidence as well as a cosy nook featuring leather armchairs and a sofa (and sadly also a flatscreen TV showing sport)
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/kake_pugh/1075140583/ photo].

There
's a beer garden out the back, with a covered and heated seating area.

According to a blackboard outside, food served all day every day.
