July 2011

July 2011 As of the end of July the pub has reopened.

December 2010. An upstairs fire in the flat above the Carlton, just before Christmas this year, has resulted in the pub being closed while repairs are done. Nobody was injured, but the pub suffered smoke and water damage. The pub will probably open again in the late summer of 2011.

The Carlton Arms is a great social pub in the north of the city. The staff are always friendly, the food is excellent and there is always a wide variety of guest Real Ales on offer — no Stella :). The Cambridge & District CAMRA May/June 2007 newsletter says it's good for Belgian beer.

The pub comprises two separate bars. The lounge bar is comfortable with sofas and tables for eating or socialising. The main bar is laid out in a more traditional pub manner with fruit machines, a pool table etc.

Food is served until 9pm every day. Quiz night is Wednesday.

The new chef as of January 2010 does a cracking variant on the Ubiquitous Cambridge Sausage; Toad in the hole. Do try it.

Toad in the Hole no longer being served as of Feb 2010, which reverts the menu back to 'ordinary'
