Historical version 11 of Castle Inn (view current version)

The Castle Inn is a bit further out from the city centre than some of the other pubs you can find in Cambridge, near the Kettle's Yard and Folk Museum. It is like your typical pub, in that there is a wide selection of beer available on tap as well as alcopops, non-alcoholic drinks, and snacks, but with a slight difference - they serve pork scratchings! And very tasty pork scratchings at that.

The bar staff were very friendly and chatty - we had a good laugh when I found out that they do not in fact serve chocolate bars (being a girl and arriving at 9:30pm, there was no other place to find a hoard of chocolatey goodness). Everyone was in good spirits (no pun intended) with the approach of Christmas, which made the atmosphere very lively.

One more positive point about this pub that also made it different from so many others that I have been to is that, if you are low on cash, you do not need to spend a minimum amount to use a card. Of course, I do not recommended that you only buy a 50p packet of pork scratchings on your credit/debit card. That would just be silly.
