The Globe Ale House was a pub on Hills Road. It closed in early 2010. As of September 2010 the premises are occupied by another pub called the Emperor (not to be confused with the Empress on Thoday Street).

Pub on Hills Road.

They offer the usual kind of pub food, priced between £3.25 (for jacket potatoes or club sandwiches) and £6 (steak, chips, and all the trimmings). Gammon, egg, and chips is £4.25, all-day breakfast £5, etc (photo of the pub food menu).

Monday is steak night (£5), and Tuesday is Thai food night (photo of the Thai menu).

They also have a beer garden.
