Very pleasant small Vietnamese restaurant on Magdalene Street. The ground floor seats 20 people at small tables with wipe-clean plastic cloths, while the basement seats another 30 at two long tables. |
Very pleasant small Vietnamese restaurant; lovely spring rolls, good pho, I've been a few times and enjoyed everything I've tried. |

Bring your own alcohol, though it does tea, coffee, and very nice sweet lime juice. The puddings are interesting, though I have had dining companions who were unsure about the green tapioca-based one. |

They do a good-value set lunch menu (£8 for two courses as of September 2010) [http://www.flickr.com/photos/kake_pugh/5023721922/ starter options], [http://www.flickr.com/photos/kake_pugh/5023703350/ main course options]. [[Kake]] says: When I tried this in September 2010, they were happy for me to have two starters instead of a starter plus main, and gave me a larger portion of one of them to make up for it. As it says above, the spring rolls [http://www.flickr.com/photos/kake_pugh/5022832924/ photo] were good; competently fried and with a nicely textured filling. The gio bo (salad of shredded vegetables topped with beef) [http://www.flickr.com/photos/kake_pugh/5022837666/ photo] was OK, and it was good to see the inclusion of lotus shoots, but I wished they hadn't flavoured it with sweet chilli sauce. Bring your own alcohol (small corkage charge), though it does tea, coffee, and very nice sweetened lime juice (£2.20 as of September 2010). The puddings are interesting, though I have had dining companions who were unsure about the green tapioca-based one. Note that according to a sign seen in the window in September 2010, if you spend less than £15 then they'll only accept cash. Accessibility: Step up to get in. Toilets are down a narrow tightly-spiralling staircase with a handrail. |
